The #Framework Laptop 13 is a slightly unusual size and aspect ratio. So, instead of getting a case that "kind of" fits, I had one custom made from this great #Canadian artist from #Quebec on #Etsy who specializes in making things from kimono fabrics. Shows data for OECD, US, New Zealand & Netherland - in all cases difficulties with both numeracy & literacy are rising, albeit at different levels, with difficulties the highest in the USA (around 30%), and lowest (among these data groups) in the Netherlands (between 10-15%)

Further publishing and promotion of "Careless People: A Cautionary Tale of Power, Greed and Lost Idealism," by former Meta employee Sarah Wynn-Williams, must stop immediately, according to an arbitrator's ruling in a case Meta brought against Wynn-Williams and her publisher, Flatiron Books. Wynn-Williams must also stop making disparaging remarks against Meta and its employees. @theverge says it's unclear if the arbitrator has authority to halt publication, or what can be done to put the genie back in the bottle, given that the book was published this week and is already available in stores. Meta says that the ruling "affirms that Sarah Wynn-Williams' false and defamatory book should never have been published." Wynn-Williams left Meta eight years ago; the book details alleged claims of sexual harassment, including by current policy chief Joel Kaplan.

The internal wiring and heating element of a ‘Master Chef’ coffeemaker (not a bad machine most days) with its bottom cover removed, repair in progress. A blocked cold feed tube down to the horseshoe was the issue, probably my fault for letting something fall into the reservoir—it looked like a bit of cinnamon stick caught at the narrow point. And then broken lines, as they’d grown brittle and broke on disassembly. Note the classic bi-metallic corrosion built into the design (white oxidation where element was affixed to the underside carafe’s hot plate and brown-yellow oxidation stains where bracket clamps element)—total failure still on the way, but thwarted for the moment.
Same photo, feed and hot tubes replaced. Let’s take a sip from the first-run p-test now (production system using ‘live’ coffee vs. test water—not pee!)… Ah, yes… Taste that? Non-compliance is sweet and delicious.
