The way #TheLongBallad uses donghua sequences for a lot of the battle scenes is something I expected to bounce right off, but actually I think it’s brilliant. They’re only semi-animated, like a motion comic, and it makes for an expressionistic view on action that would be confusing or just too expensive to film otherwise.
Most importantly, I don’t have to worry that the horses are okay!
@villainousfriend agreed!!! It threw me off the first time it happened because I wasn't expecting it, but once I took a moment to think about it I realized all the good things about it.
