I love my email client because I've set all my emails to Plain text view and haven't looked back since. I also never have to see badly formatted newsletters again! Now, I get emails that say this, which is honestly more than fine by me! I'd rather get this then some badly formatted email.

However, your email software can't display HTML emails. You can view the newsletter by clicking here:

Much cleaner reading experience now!

@dangillmor Not to forget #Steady with seat in Germany and therefore completely compliant with the strict EU digital laws, and US-free:

It's great for people without big technical knowledge, I use it for years. And it's more than a newsletter - you can build your community and integrate podcasts. Or run your WP website with your Steady paywall or buttons.

steadyhq.comThe best Substack alternative for full creative controlWhile Substack is a closed platform, Steady integrates easily with your existing channels. If you want complete control over your brand, Steady is the ideal choice.

Thank you for your patience as we've taken a few steps back to evaluate our approach to communication in the context of, well, everything.

We are standing on a precipice, or so, at least, it seems. There is a shattering occurring of what we deem "normal" to be, and what happens next will depend largely on how we choose to relate to instability and uncertainty, and what we choose to do about it.

Rancho de la Libertad stands on this precipice, gathering materials to build a bridge to a yet-unknown other side. We are continuing to take steps towards building a sovereign community insulated from geopolitical and climate instability, insofar as we can be. We wish to nourish, provide space and sanctuary for, and educate our community and those who join our community from afar - to empower and enable all of us with the skills we will need to establish distributed networks, remain safe, feed and house ourselves, and thrive.

By the end of this week I hope to release a website and free newsletter offering, but also a paid subscription that will help support this project. While we may keep this account, it will not be very active. We are trying to rigorously protect our energy and time so that we can focus on real direct action, while simultaneously ensuring we maintain communication with our community and those interested in our mission. Creating one central source of contact feels like the best way, at this time, to build and maintain relationships and community.

Stay tuned for the release in a few days with more information about what we're offering our community at this time. If you'd like to send me your email to be added manually in advance, you can send it to ranchodelalibertad@protonmail.com.

Be safe, and don't forget to take a few steps back from your online spaces to check in and be present alongside your regional community.

One of the #books I've currently got going—Donato Loia's fantastic 1095 Short Sentences— helped me think through some ambiguous feelings about the rise of the #newsletter. Of course, that's over at the #blog, a medium I suspect is still a different beast from a newsletter:

Just saw someone floating around the idea of charging email subscribers, but keeping your RSS feed free. I’ve never thought about it before, but an email list actually does cost money to run, and if you really don’t want to take the time to learn how RSS works, then you need to pay to keep the mailing list alive I guess?

I don’t know how I feel about this. On the one hand, it limits people that aren’t very technology savvy and it capitalizes off of their technology ignorance, and it also limits my audience but on the other, RSS is far, far, far, cheaper, keeping rate limits into accounts and otherwise. for us creators. An email list is not cheap, especially if you have more than 2,000 subscribers.

Don't worry! I'm not doing this! I just saw the idea in a forum and it gained some traction so was like interesting thought, but if you do wanna help me out in other ways, robertkingett.com/support/

Heyo Fedi folks! Today I'm announcing the launch of my "newsletter"-ish thing I've dubbed "Scrolls". Scrolls is a weekly #newsletter / link roundup / information digest at the intersection of the #IndieWeb and the #Fediverse, with a splash of #Cybersecurity stuff thrown in there just for fun. Check it out!

Let me know what ya think, and if there's anything you'd like to see covered in the future, etc... Would love to see it get boosted about so others can check it out too!

Okay friends.

Long and complicated post.

One of the things authors used to do were blog hops. Basically, sharing their posts on another's blog.

I recently rebuilt my #Blog. uncoveredmyths.wixsite.com/unc

I have a few posts I need yet to write and add to it.

I doubt anyone knows it exists.

So, I have a few questions and thoughts.

Thought 1: I would like to host posts by other authors on my blog.

Would you be interested in reading them?

Thought 2: I have no money, so could not pay authors.

Would you be interested in writing a no pay post that I would share on Mastodon?

Thought 3: Since I could not pay authors (as I receive no pay myself), I would prefer reprints.

Would you share a reprint?

Thought 4: I am considering themes. I share a lot about my disabilities on my website.

Would you be willing to share either something helpful, a story, or even nonfiction?

I am thinking one post per week.

If I decide to do this, I will create a form on the website to upload.

And yes, I will create good guidelines.

Around, or less than 2,000 words (a few words fudge room).

Reprints: Yes

Simultaneous: Yes (Especially after a week).

Multiple: 2.

Poetry: Yes.

Genres: See Theme for each month. Or we can make a theme out of submissions. Blind, mobility, art, crafts, cooking, autism, memory loss, and more.

Submission type: .doc preferred. Shunn with Arial Rounded MT Bold size 14. Or, know that any editing will be done in Arial Rounded MT Bold size 14.

All rights will remain with the author. A link and blurb on social media when the post posts would be appreciated.

Does this mean I need a newsletter!?

This would be a one person blog post, so the form may close if the foreseeable future is full.

I will want at least ten people interested to consider spending the time and effort.
