a beautiful moment
we love our local restaurant Rose Indian Cuisine, delivering to our apartment even though we live in the neighborhood.
last night when i placed our usual online delivery order, i sent a quick message that we're moving to the other side of town and would miss Rose so much. later, when the doorbell rang, it was the chef himself who brought our dinner to us.
what a special surprise and honor to meet him. we feel so blessed.

Winter storms in March can be very interesting.
California’s coldest storm system of the winter approaches, as atmospheric river takes aim
A major winter storm, fueled by a renewed atmospheric river, will bring heavy rain and mountain snow to both Northern and Southern California on Wednesday and Thursday.
Heavy rain and gusty winds will impact Wednesday’s commute around the Bay Area, while several feet of snow will begin piling up in the Sierra, including Tahoe.
By Wednesday evening and into Thursday morning, showers and thunderstorms will linger locally, while the pulse of heavy precipitation will shift southward, bringing several inches of rain and mountain snow to Central and Southern California. #weather #CAwx #SFBA

Hey there, #sfba! Yes, it was a beautiful sunrise. I’ll just take it as a positive part of daylight saving time…
My children (now very grown!) spent their childhoods in this place, the SF Botanical Garden, kind of their backyard.
This afternoon I walked with them here one more time before I move to another side of town.
The tulips were in full bloom this afternoon.
Successive storms to impact U.S. West Coast with rain and snow
Two atmospheric rivers (ARs) along with a low-pressure system are forecast to bring significant precipitation to much of the U.S. West Coast from March 8 to 14, 2025.
The first atmospheric river (AR) is forecast to make landfall over the Pacific Northwest (PNW) on Saturday, March 8, moving south along the coast through March 9. A trough is expected to follow behind the AR, bringing precipitation to Southern California from March 10 to 11, according to the Center for Western Weather and Water Extremes (CW3E).
The second AR is forecast to reach the U.S. West Coast on Wednesday, March 12, and move south along the California coast through March 13. #weather #CAwx #WestCoastwx #SFBA

@GossiTheDog Im surprised (and disappointed) that this isnt in the US.
I thought this would be a San Francisco Bay Area thing. Sadly not.
If you’re in the San Francisco Bay Area and you’re interested in the future of news, you might be interested in an event @SFPublicPress is hosting. On March 13, there’ll be a special screening of “Stripped for Parts: American Journalism on the Brink,” a documentary by Academy Award-nominee Rick Goldsmith, about hedge fund Alden Global Capital, which has been gutting local papers across America.

Critical weather radar is out of service — which may explain weirdness in forecasts
A Bay Area weather radar system that provides critical data meteorologists use to track incoming storms has been out of service since midday Saturday.
Rain splashing across weather apps Saturday night seemed to vanish after the radar, which sits atop Mount Umunhum in the Santa Cruz Mountains, went offline. Weather service meteorologist Dylan Flynn said the office was “handicapped” as rain and thunderstorms continued Sunday and forecasters were unable to examine the structure of individual storm cells. #weather #KMUX #wxradar #SFBA

I’m always deeply suspicious of #SanFrancisco news stories where companies claim that the city let “the meth addicts and homeless take over”, and that’s why they’re closing.
The Market claimed they went from $60k/day in income in 2019 to $2,300/day today, and it’s because of dwindling foot traffic, remote work (of course) and homeless people and drug addicts.
I simply don’t buy it. A 97% drop in your income can’t be blamed on druggies and remote workers. I bet the story is more complex than that, and it’s a shame that SFGate took them at their word.
This narrative is too often repeated and has become suspiciously convenient. #sfba
